We have been receiving an increasing number of reports about unauthorized vehicles using access roads to âshortcutâ through the district or access areas that are not meant for motorized travel. Unauthorized activity in these spaces is prohibited and for good reason. In addition to the obvious dangers of unauthorized vehicle traffic in these areas, the damage to District property caused by motor vehicles can create the need for costly repairs and can impact drainage, damage underground utilities, and potentially become an environmental risk to the open water withing our Firethorne community. No unauthorized vehicles should be anywhere beyond the residential streets of Firethorne.
The only vehicles that are authorized around the detention ponds, water ways and other district facilities are the consultants and contractors working on or in our facilities. You have likely seen our Operator, Inframark, in their well-marked white trucks helping residents and checking on equipment.
You may also see our engineer, Quiddity, detention maintenance, Storm Water Solutions, as well as the districtâs landscaping company, Terryâs, out doing their part to keep everything running well. Any other vehicle, especially if unmarked, is likely not authorized to be offroad on any MUD property.
Residents who see a violation occurring are encouraged to immediately reach out to the Fort Bend Co. Sheriff's Office on their non-emergency line, 281-341-4665, or Districtâs operator, Inframark, at (281) 579-4500. Additionally, please let the District know of any violations by utilizing the contact form on the District website. Violators can and will be reported to local law enforcement and, if caught, violations could result in fines and/or jail time.
