With the recent freeze event, and the resulting power outages, many Firethorne residents are considering installing home generators. A byproduct of home generator use is waste oil.

Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 151 (FBCMUD 151) would like to remind residents only rainwater is meant to go down the storm sewer system.

Household hazardous waste (HHW) items such as used motor oil, paint, battery acid, and pet waste are not meant to be disposed of in this system, as the storm sewer system conveys water into rivers, lakes, and bayous. Fort Bend County has a recycling center where these items can be safely collected and disposed of, and Firethorne residents are encouraged to take their HHW items there.
