Firethorne residents should be familiar with the North Fort Bend Water Authority (NFBWA) fee on their monthly water bills. Effective January 1, 2021, the NFBWA has increased its groundwater pumpage fee to $4.25 per 1,000 gallons and the surface water fee to $4.60 per 1,000 gallons. This NFBWA rate change will be reflected in Firethorne residents’ February 2021 utility bill.
Please note: this is a fee that is levied by the NFBWA and not by the FBMUD 151 Board. There is a 5% administrative cost adjustment included on resident’s bills to account for water loss and facilities maintenance.
Why do I have an NFBWA Fee on my monthly water bill?
The NFBWA is a wholesale provider of water that invoices municipal utility districts (MUDs), cities, and other participants in the NFBWA’s Groundwater Reduction Plan (GRP) based on their overall use of groundwater and surface water. Typically MUDs and cities will pass the charges through to their residents and that is the fee seen on your bill.

What can I do to keep my bills lower?
The best way to keep your water bill down is to conserve water. Firethorne residents can use the EyeonWater app that connects to your smart meter so you can monitor your usage, get leak alerts, and prevent high usage bills. You should be able to find the app for your mobile device in either the Google Play store or iOS Apps store. If you have not already signed into the service, use the link above to register on their site (information from your most recent bill will be required).
If you have any further questions on this or anything else related to FBMUD 151, please do not hesitate to utilize the contact form on the District website.
