Eye On Water
In addition to other items, the special meeting will feature information on the uses and benefits of the residential smart meters installed in the District. These smart meters allow residents to take control of their water bills by monitoring water consumption using the EyeOnWater resident portal through a web browser or smartphone app.
The EyeOnWater resident portal consolidates water usage information collected by residents’ water meters to monitor for usage trends and automatically detect leaks, saving residents money. Once enrolled, residents can use EyeOnWater to easily contact the district’s water services provider with questions and view usage history going back to the date their water meters were installed. For most residents, this will provide water use history going back to August 2018 or earlier. Users of the EyeOnWater app can also set up leak detection and high usage alerts to prevent costly monthly amounts from any undetected leaks in the home.
Almost 700 users have registered for the mobile app and online EyeOnWater portal. The district encourages residents to download the app on their mobile devices; instructions on how to do so can be found through the FBCMUD 151 Smart Meters page on the District website. Residents can then bring their devices to the meeting for assistance in learning how to utilize the new technology. Find out how you can use this tool to save money on your water bills!
