Last Monday, the 10th of December, Katy Fire Department brought their high water rescue vehicle into the Firethorne neighborhood to collect food and toys for charity, hand out candy to the children, and celebrate the holidays with their Firethorne neighbors. Santa and his sleigh were perched atop the vehicle, while another truck followed to collect donations from residents.
Chief Wilson was overwhelmed by the amount of food and toys that were donated. Pictures of the donations showed the great generosity of the Firethorne community; donations overflowed the lobby of the fire station and went into the apparatus bay!
Responses on the Katy Fire Department Facebook feed were very positive. Some residents noted concerns regarding how long it took the truck to make its way through the Firethorne neighborhood. Asst. Chief Parker stated that the Katy Fire Department and FB MUD 151 Directors are working together to address those concerns for next year, possibly by changing the route or split the Firethorne trip into two nights.
FBCMUD 151 Directors are working with Katy Fire Department to find ways to either change the route or split the Firethorne trip into two nights.
Thanks to all the families that came out and took part in the Santa tour through our community, and for your generosity during the holidays! May you all have a safe and wonderful holiday break!
