Removal of Rose Bushes Due to Rosette Virus
September 3, 2025
Fort Bend County MUD No. 151 would like to inform residents that rose bushes infected with Rose Rosette Virus (RRV) have been identified throughout the District by the District’s landscaper.
Rose Rosette Virus is a plant disease spread by a tiny mite that feeds on roses. Symptoms can include abnormal growth such as excessive thorniness, bright red leaves, and deformed buds. Unfortunately, once infected, rose bushes cannot be cured and must be removed to prevent the virus from spreading.
The District’s landscaper is actively removing infected plants and will treat healthy rose bushes to protect them. After removal, the affected areas will be replanted with healthy flowers to maintain the beauty of the community landscape.
We appreciate your understanding as these steps are taken to protect the District’s landscape and prevent further spread of Rose Rosette Virus.
