October 9th Parks Meeting Recap

The Board of Directors of Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 151 met on Thursday, October 9th. Below is a summary of the items discussed during the meeting.

Security and Cameras

The District’s legal counsel and engineer are coordinating with Fort Bend County and Flock to address permitting requirements for the License Plate Reader and security camera installations.

Engineering Updates

  • Drainage Rehabilitation: Work continues on the West Detention Basin shoreline and the drainage channel behind Lindsey Elementary.

  • Crosswalk Lighting (South Firethorne Rd): Fort Bend County is reviewing the maintenance agreement. 

  • Radar Speed Signs: The westbound sign has been reset, and the eastbound replacement was approved. Both signs will be replaced at the same time to ensure full traffic coverage.

  • Crosswalk Striping: This request remains under review with the Fort Bend County Road & Bridge Department.

  • Reclaimed Water Booster Pump Station: The current system is operating well, and the District is awaiting cost estimates for potential upgrades.

  • Firethorne East Lakes Shoreline Restoration: Design work for erosion repairs at Lakes No. 3 and No. 4 is underway, with construction planned for early 2026.

  • Trail Enhancement Project (Phase 1): Engineering has reviewed plans for the upcoming trail improvements.

Annexation Matters

A developer presented options for a proposed development and requested a capacity reservation and future annexation commitment. The Board approved the request.

Park Landscape and Maintenance

  • Repairs discussed at the previous meeting have been completed.

  • Playground kiddie cushion surfacing will be replenished as needed.

  • Seasonal flower planting will take place at the end of the month.

  • Legal is working to seek County approval of No Parking Signs.

  • The Board approved a proposal for a new fountain installation.

Park Development

  • The Board discussed options for a new trail section crossing HOA property and alternative options for trails.

  • Decorative stone or boulders will be placed at the trail’s endpoints.

Operations

A fire hydrant repair is in progress on Walsh Springs.

Communications

More information about upcoming billing system changes will be shared closer to the start of next month.

Fire Protection

Discussions with the City of Katy regarding fire protection services are ongoing.
