The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 151 met this week to discuss ongoing infrastructure projects, community safety, and neighborhood maintenance. Here are the key takeaways for the residents of Firethorne.

Community Safety & Security

  • New Security Patrol: Onsite Security has officially begun patrolling the District. The Board is in the process of fine-tuning the specific patrol schedule and focus areas with them.

  • Traffic Safety: In response to resident concerns regarding speeding on West Firethorne, the Board has requested a formal proposal for radar monitoring equipment to encourage safer driving speeds.

  • Crosswalk Improvements: New lighting has been installed at the South Firethorne Road crosswalk. The Board has noted they seem a bit dim and is looking into whether the intensity can be increased for better visibility.

    • Striping near the water plant is complete, and new striping is being added near Lindsey Elementary to keep our students safe.

Major Infrastructure & Engineering

  • FM 1463 & Sound Wall: The TxDOT road widening and sound wall project is currently on track for completion in late 2026.

  • Bridge Construction: Construction on the EHRA bridge project is slated to begin in late April.

  • Wastewater & Sewer: Improvements at the Wastewater Treatment Plant began last week.

  • Water Quality: Recent performance tests on all District water wells came back with good results.

Parks, Landscaping & Maintenance

  • Completed Work: We’ve repaired the Draycutt sunshade, fixed the gate at Monarch Terrace, and installed new dog waste stations. We also completed tree trimming in the West Detention area and removed a beehive at East Lakes.

  • Coming Soon: We approved the installation of new fencing and columns at FM 1463 and North Firethorne. This work is expected to start soon.

  • Shoreline Erosion: Plans are underway to address erosion at the West Detention and East Lakes area.

Tax & Financial Updates

  • Tax Exemptions: The Board is currently reviewing an analysis of the tax exemption the District offers for residential homesteads for persons who are over 65 years of age or disabled.

  • Annexation: Coordination continues with the City of Fulshear regarding the annexation of new land. Surveys and utility path planning are the next steps in that process.

Miscellaneous

  • Sidewalks: The Board is prioritizing further sidewalk repairs throughout the community to ensure walking paths remain safe and level.
