PROJECT UPDATE: Understanding Silt Fences During Neighborhood Construction
As construction continues on our district’s infrastructure and trail improvements, residents may notice silt fencing being installed along nearby drainage channels.
What Is a Silt Fence?
A silt fence is a temporary erosion and sediment control barrier used during construction projects. Its primary job is to protect our local environment and drainage system by preventing loose soil and sediment from washing into channels and waterways during rainfall.
How Does It Work?
The specialized fabric allows water to filter through slowly while capturing sediment and soil on the construction site. This simple measure keeps our storm channels clear and operating efficiently.
How Long Will It Be There?
The silt fences will remain in place throughout active construction and will be removed once the surrounding areas are fully stabilized with sod and vegetation.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our district’s infrastructure! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the District through our website contact form.
