Board Meeting Recap

April 29, 2025

The Board of FBMUD 151 met on Monday, April 28. Here is a quick summary of some of the items discussed during the meeting.

District Facilities

The Lift Station No. 1 contractor installed a plastic barrier inside the fence to help control sound. That work was completed earlier this month and seems to be working well.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant rehabilitation project is out for bid. The Board plans to select a contractor in May and will then prepare and execute contracts. The selected contractor will prepare submittals and then order equipment. Work will begin once the equipment is received.

The District had the water wells tested and the engineer is pleased with the results.

Parks & Landscape

Spring maintenance is underway in the parks and greenspaces. Mulch was installed in most areas and fire ant prevention is now complete. The landscape contractor will be trimming trees in the near future. The Board also approved bids to refresh the rock around the banks at Lake Firethorne and to replace the bench that was damaged at East Lakes.

The first phase of the park bond project is in the design phase with our landscape architect, EHRA. We will be starting with enhancements to the existing trails, before shifting to the new sections. Updates will be provided regularly over the coming months.

The Board asked the District's attorney to explore legal options within the Board’s authority to help manage parking issues in the parks, near the mailbox clusters.

Communication

The District's Facebook page is up and running. We will be posting at least twice monthly going forward.

Security

The Board discussed a draft contract that would authorize installation of license plate reader cameras in the community and is exploring options, including seeking a proposal for the installation of additional cameras, to help address the ongoing mail theft issues.
